Planning ahead, packing the right gear and being prepared for unexpected situations can make camping with toddlers a rewarding and fun experience. Ten things that you should bring with your toddler on a camping adventure.

1. Tents are sturdy and durable

When camping with toddlers  it’s important to have a tent that can handle the wear and tear of little ones. You should look for a large tent, with an easy-to-setup floor. A pop-up cabin tent is usually the best option for families.

2. Sleeping Bags

Be sure that you buy a high-quality sleeping bag for everyone in your family including the toddlers. Choose sleeping bags which are lightweight, durable, and insulated. You should choose a sleeping bag according to the temperatures you expect when camping.

3. First Aid Kit

It is essential to have a first-aid kit that contains all the necessary items. Include bandages, gauzes, pain relievers, and antibiotic creams. Remember to bring along children’s medicines such as allergy and Motrin.

4. Insect Repellent

It is important to have an insect repellent handy. Mosquitos, and other bugs can cause a lot of trouble. Search for non-toxic, natural repellents safe for kids. Do not use repellents that contain high concentrations of DEET.

5. Portable Potty

Toddlers can have unpredictable bathroom needs so it’s important to have a portable potty on hand. Choose a portable potty which is easy to use and lightweight. Choose a potty that has a cat litter container and lid.

6. Sun Protection

Pack sunscreen, hats, and any other necessary sun protection items for your kids. Reapply sunscreen often for toddlers.

7. Rain Gear

Pack rain gear like raincoats and boots. It is worth having extra dry socks or underwear.

8. Snacks & Drinks

Include healthy drinks and snacks for your toddlers. Include things like fruit, crackers, and juice boxes. Avoid fussiness by sticking to the foods they’re used to.

9. Browse our Activities

To keep your toddlers entertained on a camping trip, bring along their favorite books and toys. A bored child is the worst.

10. Flashlights

If your toddler needs to go to the toilet in the middle night, make sure that you provide them with flashlights so they can safely find their way. Batteries make flashlights a good toy, so be sure to bring extras.

With these 10 items you will be prepared for a safe and fun camping trip.
