Top Tip

Take a look at diasainsicilia.com before you book your flight or ferry and book yourself a villa. You’ll be able to relax after a long day on the bike. It’s likely that booking one will be the best thing you ever do.

Santuario Rosalia Loop

The cycling route begins in Palermo, and it is about 40km long. You will reach 1,875ft in three hours. After leaving Palmera, you’ll pass through Mondello and Santuario S. Rosalia. Then you will continue up to M.Pellegrino. You’ll need to be reasonably fit for this steady climb.

The view from the top of the mountain is breathtaking.

Cibali Circlopi Loop

This circuit is not for the faint-hearted. The surfaces are mostly paved and can be tackled by anyone. You’ll need to push your bicycle on several small sections, as cycling is not allowed.

After leaving Cibali, you’ll head to Isole Ciclopi. You will then admire Capo Mulini before continuing to Chiesa Di San Mauro Abate. This trip will take 2.5 hours and cover a distance of just under 40km.

Colata Lavica Loop

You will need to be in excellent physical condition for this route. You’ll travel approximately 50km in four hours. The route’s lowest point is 1,450ft and its highest point is 6,300ft.

Start at the Valle Della Funivia near Mount Etna. Enjoy the views of Etna, the other snow-capped mountains and the valley as you make your way to Nella Colata Lavica. Then follow the route in a circular motion back to the starting point.

You can explore many more cycling routes in Sicily. You are still on a beautiful, historic island. You can visit the sights by bike.

Mount Etna is Europe’s most active volcano. Taormina is a popular destination for high rollers, as well as those who want to try la dolce vue.

The Valley of the Temples is another great place. The ancient Greeks lived in the 5 thcentury BC. It was at that time one of the biggest cities in western Europe. Museo Archeologico is a museum that may be the best on the island.

Agrigento is the perfect place to unwind and relax. You can plan your next cycling trip while you enjoy the many restaurants and bars. This island has so many things to do that you can just start pedaling and see where it takes you.
